SUMMER IN BRECKENRIDGE
Summer in the Colorado Rockies is like no other. Breckenridge, 9,600 miles above the sea offers warm summer days followed by cool summer nights. Rising to the sound of the birds singing and the Blue River flowing, the summer in Breck is definitely special.
Best Epic Discovery Activity: Ziplining! Get your adrenaline pumping and soar above the trees at Breckenridge Ski Resort on a zip line. Experience 8 different zip lines between 10 tours and an aerial bridge on an unforgettable guided tour.
Best Biking: Breckenridge to Frisco Bike Path. This trail is a great option for all abilities! It’s paved the entire way. Feel free to ride a road or mountain bike or any other non-motorized form of transportation. Stay on the trail if you are enjoying the views, or if you’re a thrill seeker there are single track detours. Ride back to your car or use the FREE Summit Stage bus which has a bike rack to transport you and your bike back to Breckenridge. From Breck to Frisco one way is 9 miles.
Best Hiking: Spruce Creek Loop. This is a scenic 6.2 mile loop that allows you to feel far away from everything, yet the trailhead is only 2.5 miles from downtown Breckenridge. The trail is gentle with several options for photographs and snack breaks in the shade.
Best Outdoor Happy Hour: You won’t want to pass on the happy hour deals at Sancho Tacos + Tequilas! Every day from 3PM – 6PM, Sancho offers $5 house margaritas – slushy or on the rocks, $1 chips & salsa, $6 chips & queso and $6 chips & guac! Looking for something other different? The deck at Kenosha Steakhouse is a great spot to enjoy a cold beverage after a long day exploring. The patio faces west so you can sit in the sun and take in the views of the entire Ten Mile Range. Happy Hour is every day from 3:00-6:00 p.m. They offer $1 off all drinks and appetizer specials.
Best Place To Stay: Make the most of your summer getaway by staying in our downtown Breckenridge lodging. Enjoy some of Colorado’s top restaurants, retail stores, and nightlife right outside the door! Located only a few minutes from the gondola that takes you up to Epic Discovery, the lodging options in Downtown Breckenridge range from historic homes to high-end condominiums and everything in between. The ability to stroll into town at a moment’s notice for coffee or ski accessories is luxury in itself.
WINTER IN BRECKENRIDGE
The winter is magical in this quaint mountain town. Bluebird skies, long ski days, fiery alpine glow, friendly locals and the hottest hot toddies. Below is our winter “not to be missed” list.
Best Breckenridge Peak: Peak 8 offers a little something for everyone in the family. The Kids Castle Ski school is perfect for the young rippers. For the folks are want a bit more challenge, Springmeier is a great blue run to get your legs under you. There are several areas to pull over if you’d like to take in the views of town and or wait for other members in your group. Make your way past Park Lane and the Freeway Terrain Park. That’s always a sight to see!
Best Snowshoe Trail: Boreas Pass offers miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails. The path is clear and the views are incredible. This is a perfect opportunity to catch a little sunshine and to get see our fourteener, Quandary Peak. If you have time, the picturesque journey to Bakers Tank is well worth it. The tank was used on the old railroad line that passed through downtown Breckenridge. The trip is 5.3 miles roundtrip.
Best Winter Event: Ullr Fest! This weeklong celebration honors Ullr, the Norse god of snow. Think world’s longest shot ski, bonfires and parades. This wild event happens the second or third week of January each year.
Best Après Ski Happy Hour: The best spot in town might just be the Robbie’s Tavern bar at the base of Peak 8, located inside Grand Colorado Resort. This is truly a ski-in après ski opportunity. Get some tasty snacks like their pretzel bites and treat yourself to a warm Irish Coffee. If you are taking the day off from the hill, or prefer happy hour in town, head to Blue River Bistro. They offer 2-for-1 martinis and small plates and often have live music on the weekend. This bistro is truly a blend between folks on vacation taking in the town, and locals gathering to share powder day tales.
Best Place To Stay: Ski-in ski-out lodging in Breckenridge offers unparalleled access to the mountain’s ski runs, dining, and après-ski scene.
