Breckenridge history runs deep. The town was initially settled as a mining town during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859. Notable among the early prospectors was Edwin Carter. His log cabin built in 1875 still exists today. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance was founded in 2006 to help promote and protect Breckenridge’s unique heritage.
