Après Ski Like A Local

Breathtaking mountains, endless outdoor activities, Main Street festivals, and the authentic community are my reasons for making Breck, home.

What better way to warm up after a day on the slopes than with a warm hot toddy, an Irish coffee or your favorite local draft beer?

Here are some of my favorite spots for you to après ski like a local in Breckenridge…

Après hANDCRAFTED LIBATIONS

The name says it all! Located right on Main Street, Après offers fine craft beers, 28 rotating to be exact, and award-winning handcrafted cocktails. At Après, you feel just like you would in your own home. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable, a place where you can bring your own snacks, play games, listen to good music and enjoy your favorite beverage! Try the Ap-pear Pie. A whiskey based mixed with pear brandy, vanilla liqueur, and house-made Breck Bitters. It tastes likes a pear and apple pie…yum.

Broken Compass Brewing

Looking for an awesome local brewery? Broken Compass beers are made right in Breckenridge and are some of the best. Try a beer flight after a long day on the slopes, stop in on Tuesday for trivia night, or try a Ridden fat bike brewery tour. They also offer a free brewery shuttle if you want to come straight from the mountain.  Try the Chili Pepper Pale Ale, the Hefeweizen or the other 10+ beers on tap.

Breckenridge Distillery

Après at the Breckenridge Distillery for fantastic locally made spirits. Make sure you stop in during Happy Hour from 4-6 PM for buy one get one well drinks. If you want to get behind the scenes, enjoy a complimentary tour and tasting of their Classic Vodka, Gin and Bourbon. If you want to try a few spirits, visit the tasting room outside of the restaurant as well as in the heart of Breck, off Main Street. My favorite? The Smoking Cocoa. Breckenridge Chili and Espresso Vodka with milk chocolate hot cocoa topped with espresso whipped cream and a spoonful of Nutella.

rOBBIE’S TAVERN

Ski-in and après slope side! With spectacular mountain views and a twist on American comfort food paired with world-class wine, craft beers and cocktails, Robbie’s is hard to beat. This locally owned and operated tavern sits at the base of Peak 8. Sit on the outdoor patio by the fire and enjoy a Mad Monk (it’s mad good). Hazelnut liqueur, peppermint schnapps, coffee, hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candy.

The Crown

One of the coziest coffee shops, bar and lounge in town, hands down. Sit in the comfy booths stacked with pillows or sit by the fireplace surrounded by local art. Sip on a hot buttered rum; rum, rams mixer, topped with a slice of butter. Or the Après Tea; Baranjager Honey Liqueur served hot. If boozy cocktails aren’t your thing, they have a wide variety of wines and craft beers. This is a must stop on your Breckenridge ski vacation!

TWIST

Another cozy and comfortable après ski experience with some of the best hand-crafted cocktails in town. Not to mention they have Happy Hour just after the mountain is closing for the evening. From 4-6 PM daily, enjoy $4 drafts and $6 wine and cocktails. And for every Happy Hour, the bartender creates a rotating “cocktail of the evening” for $5. Try the Oak Smoked Old Fashion; High West Rye whiskey, oak stave smoked glass, bitters and simple syrup served on a rock.

You won’t be disappointed with any of these après ski options. And don’t worry, they all have incredible food options as well!
