Stay Slopeside At Spruce Ledge In Breckenridge
Breckenridge is known for its magnificent mountain range, countless trails and unlimited outdoor activities.
And at Spruce Ledge, Breckenridge is your backyard.
With panoramic views of the mountain, the gondola, and trails just out the door, this is a place that anyone would dream to call home. And the ones who do are ecstatic. After owning property in town since 1999, the owners of Spruce Ledge wouldn’t have it any other way. We sat down with [owners] Christi and Jan to learn more about their prized home and why they think Breckenridge is the perfect vacation location.
When did you first discover your love for Breckenridge?
I [Christi] have been coming to Breck since I was in my early 20’s and have vacationed here ever since. I introduced Jan to Breck and we fell in love with the mountains and the quaint town atmosphere. We both love skiing and truly connecting with the outdoors. Here, there’s skiing for everyone from beginner to expert. The town has a lot to offer, from small boutiques to great restaurants and bars. What’s not to love?
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not in Breck?
Our passion is sailing. In the winter, we race in Florida. In the summer, we cruise on a sailboat in Maine. We love spending days on the water and fitting in golf in whenever we can. We also love Maggie, our golden-doodle and take her everywhere with us.
How did you decide you wanted a home in the Shock Hill neighborhood?
We sold our old condo in Breck and thought we would explore some other places. The following winter we came back and decided we couldn’t give it up. We fell in love with the beauty of Cucumber Gulch in Shock Hill, being right at the gondola mid-station and being able to snowshoe and cross-country ski out the back door.
What makes Spruce Ledge great for you?
Spruce Ledge has immediate access to the gondola and beautiful Gulch views. It’s also very private and has an open contemporary architecture with top-line amenities. We love the unobstructed view of the Gulch from the living room, dining room and kitchen. When we sit down, we don’t want to leave it. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. With four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, it’s plenty of space for our large family or friends.
What makes the home one of Breckenridge’s greatest vacation rentals?
It’s a wonderful place to gather with family and friends. In the summer, there’s a large, heated, outdoor deck with a grill and hiking trails right outside the door. In the winter, there’s immediate access to skiing, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and a hot tub for after the activities.
What’s your favorite thing about Breck during the different seasons?
In the fall, we enjoy the cool air, blue skies, golfing and hiking. In the winter, we come for the skiing. We really love Breck in the winter, but look forward to spending more time here in the summer. We often hear, “People come to Breck for the winter and stay for the summer!”
Now retired, the Spruce Ledge family spends their winters in Florida, summers on the east coast in Massachusetts and getaway to beautiful Breckenridge multiple times a year.
